Freedom Eagle is a genuine Magpul PMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M2 MOE in 5.56x45, laser engraved wall to wall at Dark Horse Guns & Ammo in Yerington, Nevada. A screaming bald eagle over a tattered American flag, wrapped around the full body of the magazine. No paint, no wrap, no decal — the design is burned into the polymer and will not chip, peel, or fade.

The design

This is a full-coverage engrave, not a small logo on one face. The eagle's head fills the upper body with the beak open and the eye locked forward, feathers breaking into fine tan hatch marks as they sweep down the mag. Behind it, a torn American flag runs the length of the body — stars across the top near the 5.56x45 marking, stripes tearing away down toward the floorplate. The art carries around the sides and continues on the reverse, so the magazine reads the same whether it's seated in a rifle or sitting on a table.

Tan and black are the only two colors, and both come from the magazine itself. The bald eagle's head, the field of stars, the highlights on every feather — all of it is bare polymer that the laser has lifted to a warm buckskin tan. The blacks are the untouched original surface.

Why laser engraving instead of a wrap or Cerakote

Printed magazines, vinyl wraps, and painted finishes all share the same weakness: they are a layer sitting on top of the magazine, and layers come off. A mag pouch, a rifle rack, or one drop on gravel takes the pattern with it.

Laser engraving has no layer. The fiber laser heats Magpul's polymer until the surface changes color permanently, and the depth of that burn is what produces the shading you see in the feathers and the torn edges of the flag. There is nothing on the outside of this magazine that can flake off, and nothing to reseal or touch up over its service life.

Fit and function

The engraving is surface-level on the exterior only. Feed lips, follower, spring, and the interior of the body are untouched, so this loads, seats, and drops exactly like any GEN M2 MOE PMAG. The floorplate still comes off tool-free for cleaning, and the magazine accepts a Magpul GEN M2 Ranger Plate or L-Plate without modification. Magpul's molded markings, including the 5.56x45 callout and the serial panel, remain readable through the artwork.

Every one is slightly different

The tan is a reaction in the polymer, not a pigment. Tone varies a little from magazine to magazine and even across a single body — some come out lighter, some deeper and browner. That variation is the process working as intended, and it means no two Freedom Eagle mags are exactly alike.

Care

  • Wipe down with a dry or lightly dampened cloth.
  • Solvents and CLP will not lift the engraving, but limit heavy solvent contact with the polymer generally.
  • Nothing to seal, wax, or touch up — there is no finish on the magazine to maintain.
  • Disassemble for cleaning the same way you would any PMAG; the artwork is unaffected.
Before you order

This listing is for a magazine only — no firearm, no ammunition. Magazine capacity laws vary by state, county, and city. Check your local law before purchasing; we ship only where it is legal to do so and cannot advise on your jurisdiction.

Want your own mags engraved?

Laser engraving is one of three services at our Yerington shop, alongside gun cleaning and FFL transfers. Bring in your own PMAGs, receivers, knives, or metal gear, or ship them to us, and we will quote it at the counter. Artwork and spelling are confirmed with you before anything gets marked.

Will the eagle design wear off?

No. It is burned into the polymer rather than printed onto it, so there is no coating that can chip or peel.

Is the engraving on both sides?

Yes. Freedom Eagle is a full wrap — the eagle and flag continue around the sides and across the reverse of the magazine body.

Is this a genuine Magpul magazine?

Yes. Every Freedom Eagle starts as a real Magpul PMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M2 MOE. We do not engrave clones or unbranded magazines.

Does engraving affect reliability?

No. Only the outside of the body is marked. The feed lips, follower, and spring are untouched, and the magazine functions to Magpul spec.

Is the tan color painted on?

No. The tan is the magazine's own polymer changing color under the laser. No dye, paint, or Cerakote is used, and no other colors are available on this design.

Can I still take the floorplate off to clean it?

Yes. The GEN M2 floorplate removes tool-free as normal, and the engraving does not interfere with disassembly.
